The Design Council launched a prestigious award to search for the most innovative, creative and well-designed products to mark the end of the millennium. Among the recipients of The Millennium Product Award was Writing with Symbols 2000.
At the time, Chris Abbott (Research fellow at KCL) wrote in the Times Educational Supplement: "Symbols can unlock the door when nothing else has worked…"
