Widgit Wilding Part II: Nurturing our saplings
August 2024
We're thrilled to share an update on our rewilding initiative in partnership with the fantastic local not-for-profit, Oblong Trees. Taking some time away from our screens, the team recently chose an exceptionally sunny morning to return to our original tree planting site at Holt Farm near Southam to tend to our young saplings.
It was a heartwarming experience to see how much our little trees had flourished since we first planted them, while enjoying a lovely walk around the farm to observe the changes of the seasons (far less boggy than our first visit back in April)!
Armed with watering cans and determination, we soon got to work quenching the thirst of our baby trees – some 700 of them! Weeding the area was also crucial to ensure our young trees continue to have the best possible chance to thrive.
It’s incredible to think that each Widgit team member has contributed to planting a whopping 40 trees, both here in the UK and at eco-projects around the world. Not only do we hope this will give back to the planet, but also give staff members a sense of purpose through physically planting and tending to trees that will be enjoyed by the local wildlife for many years to come.
We're excited to monitor the progress of our tree planting site over the coming years and witness the positive impact our efforts have on the environment. Stay tuned for more updates on our rewilding journey!
