The Play Doctors

The Play Doctors is a family company who wish to support the inclusion of all children into education, early years, play, home and childcare. Wendy Usher set up the company in 2007 using over 30 years of experience living and working with disabled children.

During this time she has used Widgit symbols to support and enhance children's communication. Working together with Widgit, she has designed a broad range of practical resources to support inclusion that have been tried, tested and proven to be effective.

In addition to this, Wendy has written a number of books including a range of children's books where a number of animal characters have specific impairments. The books help children learn about hidden impairments and how to be more inclusive. Each story uses Widgit symbol strips at the bottom of each page to enhance communication. The Play Doctors also provide a broad range of training and consultancy to support settings to include all children.
